As usual, totally looking forward to making Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends. I LOVE to cook and sharing food is such a gratifying way to honor relationships and be thankful -- whether it is at Thanksgiving or just a regular meal.
This morning I saw this recipe on CBS and thought, pretty color, lots of folks like cabbage and apples, this will go well with the rest of the meal.
Sautéed Cabbage and Apples
INGREDIENTS:
1 head red cabbage
2 Granny Smith apple
4 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup red wine
Splash apple cider vinegar
METHOD:
Core and slice the cabbage into thin slices. Slice the cheeks off the apples and cut into thin wedges.
In a large sauté pan, add the butter and melt over medium heat. Add the cabbage, apples, fennel seeds, and salt and pepper (to taste), and sauté until the cabbage softens and wilts, about 20 minutes. Deglaze the pan with red wine, and stir in a splash of cider vinegar.
Transfer to a serving bowl and serve.
Thank you so much Melissa d"Arabian, host of the Food Network's "Ten Dollar Dinners."
