Essex Township - Indiana - Hannon

To see a much larger version of the play map, click on it and the map will open in a window. This is a fairly large file so may take some time to load depending on your computer connection speed.

The Michael O Hannon family farm is located on the bottom portion of this image. I find it interesting that in 1876 this is Essex Township. John Remster shared that there were some people in the community looking to secede from the township which apparently happened for a short while, hence Essex, and then was absorbed into Morgan Township. I love that the farm never moved, yet when starting to document the family the farm's township location was a bit dicey.
Another note of interest was Michael's name. Sometimes Hannon, Hannan and with the "O" falling in a variety of places. On this map it seems to be as a middle initial, this also happened on a variety of Census records too. "O" as middle initial and "O" as part of last name. Isn't family history fun!
